Completed in 2007, I consider this my first work of art. Born and raised as a Southern Baptist in the rural South, the bible was the word of god and the structuring belief system for the community. Dissent from the teachings meant eternal suffering and condemnation. The work took 52 hours and 16 Sharpie markers. The only words left intact appear in the last few verses: 'And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book'.
